Welcome from the President:

White Mountain Velo was started by Barry & Sally Field as Littleton Velo. In the early years Barry & Sally introduced many young people to the sport of cycling and trucked them around to regional races. This was long before Lance Armstrong was a household name; heck, it was even before Greg Lemond invented aero bars and Al Gore invented the Internet. Tight black shorts and cycles without motors were not often seen in these parts. For over 20 years the Fields hosted races, barbeques and Christmas parties and introduced a community to a sport as well as a way of life.
In 1983 I bought a bike at Littleton Bike Shoppe and took up riding for fitness. "The Shop" was the place to show up after work to meet with other cyclists for a ride. We would drive Barry crazy calling and asking him who was riding & where that day. After a couple years of this Barry subtly suggested we stop tying up his phone and to get organized so we made Thursday the ride night and someone drew up a schedule of rides. After a few years mountain bikes were invented (not Al Gore) and Tuesday became "off-road" ride night.
The "Club" has about two hundred "members" of all ages and 2 "divisions, Road and Off Road. Membership is $15 per year. The dues pay for Club registration with USCF and their insurance. Littleton Bike & Fitness sells "Club" jerseys & shorts.
In addition to the Thursday night rides, Club functions include, occasional weekend rides, an annual century, 2 yearly trips, organized and informal post ride dinners and an annual Christmas Party. We have an annual meeting each spring, elect officers and plan for the ride season.
Club members participate in community outreach activities such as the NH "Adopt a Highway" program where 3 times a season  we pick up roadside trash along a 3 mile stretch of Rt 116 in Littleton. Additionally, White Mountain Velo supports the annual Prouty cycling fundraiser to support cancer research.
WE WELCOME VISITORS, NEWCOMERS and GUESTS on all rides. Visiting cyclists from all over the country have joined our club rides and are usually surprised by the number and quality of riders in such a small community. We have some of the best rides (road or off-road) you will find anywhere, period. We have miles and miles of back roads with light car traffic, spectacular scenery and oh yea, a few hills. On many rides there is room to ride next to someone and chat at least until that first hill. Did I mention the hills? Check the Ride link for more details on the rides.
Many thanks to Dave and Maggie at Littleton Bike & Fitness for all their time and cash for Club activities, Without "THE" Shop we would all have flatted and gone home long ago.
