9/25 End of Season ride & meal:

Hello everyone.

It's time to wrap up the cycling season with our annual end of season dinner and get together.  We are planning on having it at The Horse and Hound Inn which is off the Wells Rd in Franconia.  So we are changing the ride and meeting at The Horse and Hound Inn at 6pm, Thursday, Sept 25th instead of what the schedule says for that Thursday night's ride.  We are thinking of doing the Wells Rd loop and adding on a section of the Easton Rd to make it an hour or so.depending on the available light. We can have cocktails/drinks at 7pm and dinner is scheduled for 7:30pm; if we get back earlier it's ok, just go in
to the bar.  We can pick from these choices: Pot Roast w/vegetables, salad, dessert and coffee or tea, or a Turkey dinner w/mashed potatoes, vegetable and cranberry sauce or a Vegetable Stir Fry.  All this for $15 plus tip including tax.  We talked about this at the ride tonight and everyone agreed to a $5 tip and make the total cost at $20 per person.  I need to know who is going asap (info@littletonbike.com) so I can let them know and also what you'd like to eat from the above choices.  If you can reply to this email that would be great and I'll give them numbers.  We will collect the money and issue a WMV club check for the total that night so no pre-paying, just wait till you get there.  Thanks!  Should be a great meal and get together!                    Maggie

8/9/08- 3 Notch Century Ride:

Friends:

I am sharing this with a few I know are ardent bike riders and encouraging you to participate in this fund raising event for Northeast Passage .  This is a major fund raiser for us and is a real challenge but a good match for those from the Granite State !

The Three Notch Century will challenge cyclists to conquer 100 miles in one, two or three days. Handcyclists and bicyclists can choose the number of days that matches their ability level and desired challenge. The routes are the same…taking participants on a challenging and scenic ride through the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Cyclists will begin at Loon Mountain in Lincoln , NH and ride through Franconia Notch, Crawford Notch and over the Kancamagus Highway .  More info is at:  http://www.threenotchcentury.org/

Northeast Passage has grown to be an international force and advocate for recreation for the disabled since it’s inception in 1990 and has expanded it’s program to improving the lives of anyone disabled from school programs to assisting our injured veterans to re-integrate to transitioning adults from rehabilitation after accidents.  Check it out at

Northeast Passage is currently part of UNH and offers one of two Winter Paralympic Training Sites in the country.  Northeast Passage has been a valuable resource to Tyler and our family for many years.  I currently sit on the advisory board and although I’m not a rider, I will be somewhere on the route making sure you get water and sustenance on your ride.

Please pass this along to anyone who you think may be interested in a challenging fall ride!

 Thank you,   Jim Walker james.walker1@verizon.net

6/22- Message from Dave

As you may know Jamie Myers , Jenny Johnson and Dave Stiles competed in the Patagonia Expedition Race in Chile last February. This 10 day Adventure Race is one of the longest races in the world and Team LBF completed the full course and finished 4th out of 11 teams competing. Along with hundreds of pounds of racing gear they brought down two small video cameras, what they brought back was an amazing story and enough film to make a movie that will bring you into the world they love, the world of Adventure Racing.

It is our pleasure to invite you and all your friends and family to the Colonial Theatre in Bethlehem on July 3rd to view this film and help support the team in their quest to race at the AR communities newest expedition race Terra Traverse in October.

Come in large numbers! Please forward this email to any friends you think may enjoy this movie also!

Show time is 7PM and tickets are a $10 donation (proceeds to benefit the Team Littleton Bike and Fitness Racing Program).

We'll have refreshments, Team LBF logo clothing and a movie that will knock your socks off.

The White Mountain Velo scheduled ride was to depart from Littleton Bike and Fitness on July 3rd. We are changing the ride schedule to allow club members attend the movie. Those wanting a longer ride of a little less than 2 hours will meet in Bethlehem by the playground (rte 142 by the Irving station) and decide on a route. Those of us that have to work will meet in Bethlehem at the same spot at 6pm for a short ride before the movie. There is also a ride coming together for the 4th of July Century, it will either be out of the shop or Joes Pond in Dan ville . There will be a proposal and vote this Thursday before the ride. Speaking of this Thursdays ride, we are repeating the notches ride since rain prevented many from showing last week.

3/30/08- Message From Jenn Batt:

THE GREAT PROUTY YARDSALE

The White Mountain Velo club has a team that will be riding the Prouty Bike & Walk event to raise money for the Norris Cotton Cancer Center.

We are having a yard sale the first weekend in May (3rd & 4th-in conjunction with the bike shop’s annual bike swap) and are looking for donations of good quality household items to sell. The money will go to the team or to an individual team member if specified. So if you have an item that is getting in your way and that is too good for the dump consider donating it.

The particulars: Drop the item off the LAST WEEK of April at the bike shop (if you are in or around Lancaster drop it off at Jen & Joe’s house) and fill out a slip with the donation information: team or team member, your name (& address), describe the item and how much you think we can sell it for.

The items should not be sports equipment that the bike shop sells; also, books & clothes do not sell very well (possibly a good jacket though), individual pieces of dishware don’t sell, but a set will.

New or slightly used household items are good, electronic equipment, tools – see what you have at your house that is too good to throw away and that you don’t need.

Send me (Jennifer) an email (bathome@verizon.net) if you have any questions about this. RIDE ON. Jennifer Batt

2/23/08- Message from Jenn Batt:

The bike season is nearly here and one of the premier events is on thehorizon. I have registered the White Mountain Velo team on the Prouty Web Page so for all of you who participated last year it is ready. For any new folks just go to: www.theprouty.org.  You can select our team and then register as a family or individual. It is a great ride and well supported but more than that a worthwhile event. For anyone who has experienced cancer anyway, personally or with a loved one or friend you know how devastating it can be. Anything we can do we should, so since we all love to ride bikes what a great way to help. My team goal this year is $2500.00 and 15 riders, let's see if we can do more than that. RIDE ON.

Jennifer

TerraCycle & Clif Bar Energy Bar Wrapper Brigade
Sponsored by Clif Bar Every year millions of non-recyclable energy bar wrappers end up in our landfills. TerraCycle and Clif Bar are working together to change that. As an eco-friendly innovator, TerraCycle   is going to convert the used wrappers into unique accessories and other upcycled products. The Wrapper Brigade program asks us to collect energy bar wrappers (see list of "acceptable wrappers"), send them in, and receive 2 cents apiece for a charity that we choose. We have chosen The Jett Foundation as our donation charity. Save your wrappers, bring them in to Littleton Bike, we will do the rest.
